Do you really believe bratz dolls make guys and teens dress skimpy? it's just a freakin doll for god sake. if you dont like them email the makers and tell them.im a bratz fan and they dont make me dress skimpy.dolls cant make you do anything you choose to do that.their just dolls!if you also dont like them, dont buy them!you dont have to dresss them up in short skirts.girls,i know most of you wear short skirts and mini shorts and tank tops.tha's not all bratz wear if havent noticed.i hate it when people have to talk about them like that.especaily if you dress like them.so please answer this question with a appropiate oppion1 | | Bratz dont make people dress a certain way, but they reinforce how society wants to/does dress. times have changed and 9 year olds like to wear thongs and mini skirts these days. its not one product's fault, but the degrading of social values such as modestness can be blamed a lot on the entertainment industry. I dont really agree with marketing slutty dressed dolls to guys but they have found a fast-growing market in our culture. I will never buy such toys for my guys but if you want your 9 year old to show off her stuff and be oogled at by 30 year old guys, buy them what ever u want. | Why can't little girls act this way instead of acting like teenagers? My little sisters had a dentist appointment and we had to check them out of school and as I went in I noticed four girls at the playground- they looked to be around 11-12 years old and they were playing with Lady Lovely Locks and Cardcaptor Sakura paper dolls and looking at printed pictures of the American Girl, Samantha's outfits (who is a historical doll with very elegant and pretty dresses). One of them was wearing a very modest-looking daisy jumper over a frilled blouse (which appeared to be the eldest girl) and the others were wearing flowery baggy jeans and long sleeved floral-t-shirts (Not all the same shirts and jeans though). This was all surprising to me since little girls these days are all about Hannah Montana and acting like teenagers. Something told me that those girls were part of a fairly small percentage of girls who actually acted their ages. So my question is why can't girls act like that these days rather than acting like teenagers? Programs on television like True Jackson VP, Degrassi, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical that are aimed at guyren trigger it and is what a high percentage of girls watch. In my opinion, girls should not be watching shows like this. Like those other girls, they should be spending time enjoying their guyhood and being little girls. It's easy to tell the girls probably watched the old Strawberry Shortcake cartoons of the 80s rather than the Disney Channel. And why have clothes for girls gotten so teen-ish as well? Mini-skirts and extremley short-shorts are on the racks of stores in malls as well as skinny and tight jeans that give a lot of "sexy" appeal to girls and very skimpy-looking camisoles. Why is it like this? What is this world coming to? | | you need to look at the mothers of those pre teens who are so precocious in act and dress.... it very often starts with the mother.... I blocked the Disney channel and mtv and still had to fight the wife about letting our pre school daughter dress like a teen... because all the little ones were like that... very few fathers of the last generation actually liked the way the mothers were allowing daughters to behave | Do you know of any websites that sell classy clothing for women in their 20s? I gave up on the stores a long time ago (I live in a nowhere place which doesn't help). But it's getting harder and harder even shopping online. It seems like most places only have skimpy cheap looking teen stuff and then matronly old lady stuff with no in-between. I usually resort to wearing a university logo polo shirt with slacks or a skirt. I like ModCloth and I like Zooey Deschanel's style. Do you have any suggestions? I'm average sized so I don't need petites or plus or anything. | omg I looove Modcloth! they have the prettiest dresses :)

Celebrities Are Ruining Today’s Youth
On the morning of July 7th 2007 eight divers discovered the lifeless body of 18 year old David Griego at the bottom of a 25 foot Greely pond in Denver, Colorado. County police revealed that the young teen had drowned imitating a stunt he had seen on the widely popular MTV show, Jackass, which features celebrities like Johnny Knoxville performing various crude and self-injuring stunts and pranks. Although, Griego’s story is only one of the many celebrity influenced deaths that we hear about, he is part of a growing statistic of young teens that have been negatively influenced by celebrities. While some people dismiss the growing trend of youths looking to celebrities for role models as a stage of adolescents, they fail to see the deeper truth (Halpern 25). Celebrities, highlighted by their athletic skills, musical talent, and acting abilities, are also negative influences to the youth of society, and should be held responsible for their actions.
Youth today are constantly bombarded with news of panty less celebrities like Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton or exposed to concerts where 16 year old Miley Cyrus is allowed to dance in a mini skirt, and gyrate on stage while singing about cheating boyfriends. Wearing skimpy outfits has become a part of celebrity culture and its influence on young girls has become apparent. “More than 70% of girls are obsessed with trying to imitate the look of a celebrity, and 30% of those girls admit to looking up to over sexualized starlets” (Brandish 9). Stores like Wal-Mart and Sears are vendors of the Hannah Montana brand which includes mini skirts with fake chains hanging off the pockets, and “micro” shorts and pants that carry the Hannah Montana logo and words like “pop star” or “rock star” on the butt. Young girls aiming to dress like Hannah Montana demand these over sexualized outfits from their parents and elicit inappropriate attention. Young Disney celebs have taken on more grown up styles. Such is the case with actors like Kike Palmer and Miley Cyrus who are only 16, yet prance around Hollywood in leather minis and stilettos. These mature styles being modeled by young starlets has little girls as young as five or six wanting to imitate their style and be “grown-up” also.
While many critics will say it is ultimately the parents who buy the skimpy clothing their guy’s wear, who is to account for the hundreds of teenage girls that hide short skirts and “boob tubes” in their backpacks only to put it on when their parents are unaware. “12 out of 20 girls say their parents have no idea what types of clothes they buy and don’t know what they wear to school”(Halpern 30).
Girls are not the only victims when it comes to the negative influence of celebrities, boys are also impacted. Famous rap artist P. Diddy proudly sells his trademarked “Bitchassness” shirts with his junior Sean John collection, which is marketed to young males. His marketing tactics have boys as young as 12 years old requesting where they can purchase this shirt that glorifies bad grammar and curse words. And Diddy, a father to 4 boys as young as 13 makes a quick buck while young boys get the notion that curse words are appropriate. According to Jake Halpern, author of the book Fame Junkies, “in 2002, celebrity-endorsed clothing labels accounted for 6 percent of the apparel industry; in 2005, it jumped to 10 percent,” and “analysts predict another 15 percent rise by 2009” (Halpern 14).
In addition to glorifying obscene language, celebrities also influence how young boys wear their clothes. The “baggy shorts” epidemic has hit every middle school and high school in the form of teen boys. Young boys walk around in baggy shorts because they see rappers like Lil’ Wayne and Jay-z make sagging seem cool. These rappers never considered that they are promoting a style once associated with “gay” men in prison.
Mike Males a writer for the San Diego Greenhaven Press argues that, “celebrities don’t influence America’s youth and shouldn’t hold the blame because parents should be the role models” (Males 1). If this is true why have so many celebrities come out with clothing and perfume lines that bear their name? Celebrities know that their name carries consumer appeal, and influences guys to buy a certain shirt or rock a certain pair of kicks. Celebrities also know what they are getting into when they take that first acting gig. If you didn’t want to be looked at by young guys as a role model why start off on a network geared towards guys. Why not start off on soap operas mainly viewed by adults. P. Diddy knows that he is a role model to young boys, so why market a shirt that advertises a cuss word you wouldn’t want your own son repeating in a junior clothing line. Diddy could have easily marketed that shirt to adult men who h | Let's talk about your thesis:
"Celebrities, highlighted by their athletic skills, musical talent, and acting abilities, are also negative influences to the youth of society, and should be held responsible for their actions."
This seems too long and disorganized. Instead:
"Celebrities need to understand that they are role models for young adults, and should take responsibility for when their actions are detrimental to society."
It's important to have a strong thesis because otherwise the reader will not be able to focus on your argument.
The rest of the essay needs to be organized in some way, such as by type of conduct (skimpy dress, criminal actions, inappropriate language...) or by person, (Johnny Knoxville, Miley Cyrus, P. Diddy...). The topic sentence of each paragraph should clearly state which of these you are focusing on.
It's clear that you have a lot of information here, so once you organize it you'll be in great shape | What do you think of the beginning of my story? My eyes fluttered open and immediately I sat upright. Like in my dream I wished I would begin to see a lavish pink canopy and a maid dressed in a ridiculous uniform, fakely smiling at me,and asking what it was that I wanted for breakfast. I would reply with "Whatever." and roll over in the bed to get back to my rest. Unfortunately though, instead of the canopy, there were cracked ceilings to wake up too. As I got off the flimpsy mattress I slept on, I stepped on a brown bottle. It cracked under my weight. Cursing under my breath, I examined my foot to see if there was a cut. Before I got a chance to check though, the pain rippled through my foot. Blood oozed out of the broken flesh,
I stepped over the glass to turn on the lamp on my nightstand. From what little light the lamp provided, I discovered many more bottles were taking up space. The one nearest me said Bud Light and recognized that they all did.
Gosh, why didnt she do this in her own room,I thought to myself.
The clutter she had created in my room was quite awful; my mom's dirty clothes from last night,a skimpy black halter top and a matching mini skirt. Beer stains were now in the carpet and on the once white walls.
I rolled my eyes and wiped my forehead, although there wasnt any sweat. I made my way to the bathroom. In the hallways,my mom's drunken episode was evident here too. Ciagrette smoking hung faintly in the air and I was surprised I hadnt woken up to this during it all. But then again,I'd been too tired from work.
Twisiting the knob to cut on the shower,I caught my reflection in the large mirror. If it were anyone else, they would have jumped back and screamed in horror. This was a usual sight for me though.
My frame was was sort of built, with muscled arms. And if it werent for my long cinnamon colored hair, someone would easily mistaken me for a boy. I was tall like my dad and had bright emerald eyes like my mother. Well thats before she went crazy, and I have no idea why.
The reason I stuck by her was because I had faith she would change. My dad had taught me to never give up. But I always wondered why he had given up on her.
Puntaction and spelling and all that isnt correct so you dont have to comment. Im still working on the details and such. But do you like it?
And I'm not quite sure where I'm taking this but I do now that the girl in the story doesnt have her dad around and her mom is into drinking and smoking and she is never there for her. She is a really troubled teen and she has a little sister.
Thanks in advance

God bless | | I really like it. Very descriptive writing style that captures the reader. It flows nicely. What I would recommend from experience, and this is just a personal opinion, but I find when I write, the beginings are always great, but as you go through it, it changes. If you are wanting to continue writing this, and I think you should, I would suggest making a ruff outline to give your story some drive. The descriptive scenes are amazing in the begining, but make sure you are able to keep that up throughout your story. I enjoyed reading that. Hope you post more :-) | Is T-Mobile full of pedophiles ? Now if you didn't see this commercial it is probably because you don't watch T. V. or live under a rock but it played heavily in 2006 on basically every channel and its time to take it apart and show you what it truly means and what T-Mobile tried to promote and no it wasn't a new phone .
In the commercial is a young girl who looks no older than 12 or 13 and she is talking on her phone while dressed in a skimpy cheerleading outfit . Now this by itself is not that big of a deal and I could mention that schools should take better responsibility with the well-being of it's students but let's just move beyond that whole issue and let's look at the commercial itself -
Notice the first thing this young girl says clearly right as the commercial starts , she says something along the lines of , " oh no he didn't dump me , I dumped him , " and then it literally does an audio fade { pay attention because this is a sneaky tactic } the commercial then fades the conversation out and then into actually guy-subject matter , like chewing gum and guyish accidents .
I want you to think about this - This is a girl who doesn't look over 13 { the public image is of a pre-pubescent middle-schooler } but the people at T-Mobile have no problem introducing not only coupling , but a failed relationship for this young girl and is it mentioned in such a way that it is " normal " !
Well in case you didn't know - that's not normal . However our brainwashed virgin guys who have seen this commercial now feel inadequate { especially the young girls } for not being like this girl , for not having an " ex " like this guy . They now feel pressured into the promiscuous " many partner " fashion , just like the ad pressures them to and in my opinion it's in a devilish subtle way .
Oh and that's not all , take note to how this pre-teen is positioned - During part of the add the guy is literally leg-spread on the floor with the camera actually catching the bottom parts of her skirt ! This means they were filming from an almost up skirt position and the focus is definitely obvious for that moment .
While most people will shrug this advertisement off and say " whatever " like many people do , I see the subtle mass conditioning of our youth and sadly I only see this continuing . | | Fateridder, You are a THINKER, unlike most of the general populace. I am always quite amazed, to say the least, at the insight you possess and that comes through your writings. To think, that you are 22 years old, makes it even more awesome! You are the perfect example, that neither age or intelligence, has a bearing on wisdom itself. You remind me of a 'born leader'. The ones who claim that you have 'far too much time on your hands', ACTUALLY tell this tale for themselves. I find it funny almost, yet ever sad, how the truth has a way of bringing out those who have little or no insight. They remind me of the person who looks in the mirror quite often, but NEVER bothers to see past the surface and look deeply within their own eyes. Quite frankly, it's people like that who scare me, for they evade matters that are either potentially or actually dangerous. The fact is, that we DO live in a society who misplaces our guyren. Furthermore, if the latter were not even true, the populace SHOULD be concerned with even the thought of their misplacement! If we are loving parents, we WILL take even the slightest of these matters seriously, regardless of whether or not they are founded or unfounded. If we are not concerned as to the potential of harm, it is the equivalent of telling our guyren to go and stand in the presence of a known pedophile, while 'taking a chance' that they will not be harmed. I beg to differ with those who are not concerned by the issues that you have raised. The nature of your proposal is serious, and that alone, requires deep thought and careful consideration, rather than evasive passivity. I would advise those who pass this off as drivel, to reconsider their love for their own guyren and our youth of today. Anything less than such consideration, not only requires but begs of me, to NEVER allow my own guyren or anyone else's, to be in this type of individual's care. They are the equivalent of 'enablers' to the pedophile himself, and personally, I will not stand for such. There should be no tolerance of those who lay either the physical or 'invisible' hands upon the guyren whom we love. Thankyou, Fateridder. | Why do teen girls......? My niece is visiting me right now with her mother(So she can school shop at West Ed Mall). They arrived yesterday, and my niece(16) walks through door with this tiny little tank top and MINI mini skirt, with dark makeup and pink black streaks(she has blond hair). I didn't say anything to my niece, because I don't want to hurt her feelings. but This morning, she was on her computer(in an even skimpier outfit). while my sister and I were in the kitchen having coffee. and I asked my sister why she lets her daughter wear things like that. My sister just shrugged and said she has no control over her.
So I am wondering, why teen girls feel the need to dress like that?
Detailed answers greatly appreciated. Thank you | well. some girls like that are just trying to attract boys. i dont see how looking skaanky would look attractive but hey im not a guy. but then again she may be doing it because she just likes the way it looks, it could be the style she likes. also, half of the reason girls dress the way they do is to empress their friends or other girls. so maybe her friends dress that way.
i just dont see why girls dont dress modestly anymoree): |
