Do you agree it's harder for an Asian male to build muscle than caucasian men? I'm Chinese, and even if I work out four times a week, I won't catch up to the muscle buildup on caucasian guys who work out the same amount of time. Is there a genetic difference that restricts the growth of muscle buildup in Asian males? |
Depends on which part of the body. Asian guys usually develop calves faster when they work out. I seen some Asians who don't even work out and they have bulging calves. Arnold Schwarznigger had to work hard to finally get those calves to pop up. And Blacks are known to have no calves whatsoever. Forearms develop faster for Asians. They also can get the split in the chest and abs. However, they have to work hard in developing the mass in the chest and shoulder muscles. That's where they need to work hard on.
4 times a week may be too much. If you work out too much in a week, you might be impeding your own development. Your body needs time to recover. |
How does an asian build muscle? I'm 25, 6ft, 68kgs, and asian male. I have been trying for over 4 years to build muscle (with results from gaining a lot of fat to slimming right down).
Everytime I start some new supplement (currently on 10grams of Glutamine, one multivitamin, 2 fish oil tablets, and 30grams of protein a day), nothing seems to work.
Would prefer to have a body that is not overly built, but at least some definition and no fat. Can somebody help me? |
Building Muscle For Asian is no different from building muscle for his western counterpart. Just by eating supplement you can't build muscle.
You need to have a action plan in mind.
Are you doing your workouts properly.
Who has designed your workout plan and is it well designed?
What is your diet strategy?
What about rest?
There a lot of things that go into building muscle and just eating supplement will leave you exactly where you are.
Here are some websites to start with. |

How do i get more lean muscle? I am a 17 year old Asian male. I used to be quite chubby, but i lost all the weight running. Now i want to get bigger as my body is a little to small and scrawny for a guy my age. I would like a swimmer's kind of body, with lean muscles. I recently started swimming and doing some weights. Am I doing the right things? How long would I take to get the swimmer's body? |

I'm 23, Male, Asian(not oriental) and 5'6". What style would suit me? I am having a style crisis at the moment!
I'm 23, Male, Asian (not oriental) and 5'6". I don't have much muscles and sadly a little belly so I tend to wear hoodies normally. I don't know why but I am too lazy to exercise- got dumb-bells, ad trainers, belt, pro fitness thing but never use them.
I need a change in the way I dress. I want to look cool wearing cool t-shirts outside. I've got great clothes, but wear them inside the hoodie which makes no point.
What style would suit me, so I don't look fat or obese and at the same time, look great.
(I've tried Blue Jeans, black hoodie with white t-shirt and a converse shoe and found i looked cool BUT I need more suggestions!)
Please help! |
| A good cardigan is everyone's best friend :) Wear a v-neck with one. Unless you think that's too Jonas Brother like (which is understandable) then get a dress shirt. |

Any Asian man successful in strength training? I have made progress with strength training and high protein diet, but Asian men tend to be less muscular and less vascular than White or Black counterparts. Of course, there are exceptions that match or surpass White or Black counterparts. I am not one of those exceptions.
I am advised that I need to drastically reduce the frequency and volume of my work-outs. Frequency gets naturally reduced due to other responsibilites in life and as you get older you naturally become prudent to realize that exercises are not to take precedence over other things in life (unless you are a movie star or a professional athelete).
This muscle building game is mostly genetic. Asians tending to be less muscular and vascular is an advantage for Asian females but not so for Asian males.
Any Asian man who can advise me on buling muscles and becoming more vascular? I am doing strength training about 2 days a week and cardio 3-4 days a week. Due to my need to bulk up 1st, I am gonna cut out cardioes. |
The fastest guy in my school is Asian tho...
He is in Cross Country and Track/Fields and has about a 5 minute mile for a 13 year old..
But yeah muscle building is sort of genetic, but it's not too involve in genetics, just the right workout with good intake of protein..
Not too much useless carbs and use weights.. www.teenbodybuilding.com is where I look up my workouts..
Also you have to space your workouts between days, I mean you can't just workout everyday, because your muscle needs time to regrow.. That's what makes the muscle go huge, and 2 days a week isn't much.. How about.. Monday/Wed/Fri then Rest...
A lot of people use race as an excuse for their failure, maybe you're not failing but you're not using the right techniques..
Good luck. |
